After a period of mourning his late wife, Rory finally feels ready to face the prospect of dating again.
He has invited Lauren to a dinner party at his house in the hope of impressing her with his alleged gourmet cookery.
He enlists the help of his neighbour, Fran, and his best friend Jack, to ensure that everything passes off smoothly.
The situation is complicated by the combined ghostly presence of Rory’s wife, Charlotte, and Celia, a previous mistress of the house.
Also stirred into the mix are Rory’s tennis club friends, Hugh and Olivia, as well as Steph, a friend of Lauren.
Not everybody is entirely what they seem as plot meets counterplot, with some spirited interference from the dearly departed.
